Brake Pads - V8 S/C 5.0L Petrol (G2264159): Removal
WARNING:
Brake pads must be renewed in axle sets only. Failure to follow this instruction may result in braking efficiency being impaired.
CAUTION:
- Use only new brake fluid of the correct specification from airtight containers.
- Do not mix brands of brake fluid as they may not be compatible.
NOTE:
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
- This procedure contains illustrations for right side components, left side components are similar.
- If new brake pads are installed, the brake pad wear sensor must be replaced.
- If this component is being renewed because of a customer complaint, make sure to follow the brake system Diagnosis and Testing procedure.

- Connect the Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) approved diagnostic equipment and set the Electric Park Brake (EPB) to the maintenance position.
General Equipment: Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment

NOTE: This step is only required if the diagnostic equipment is not available.
Set the EPB to the maintenance position.

NOTE: This step is only required if the startup battery has no power.
Release the EPB.

- Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.

- Remove the wheel and tire assembly.

Remove the anti-rattle spring.

NOTE: The brake pad wear sensor is installed on the right side only.
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the EPB actuator.
- Release the brake pad wear sensor.
- Release the 2 grommets.

CAUTION: Make sure that the brake hose does not support the full weight of the brake caliper assembly.
- Remove the 2 dust caps.
- Remove the 2 slide pins from the brake caliper.
- Remove the brake caliper and use a suitable cable tie to support the brake caliper.

CAUTION: Note the correct orientation of the brake pads.
Remove the 2 brake pads.

NOTE: Only do this step if new brake pads are to be installed.
- Release the 3 grommets.
- Release the wiring harness from the 3 clips.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Remove and discard the brake pad wear sensor.
