Brake Pads - V8 S/C 5.0L Petrol (G2264159): Installation

  1. WARNING: Do not use compressed air to clean brake components. Dust from friction materials can be harmful if inhaled.

    Clean the brake caliper anchor plate using brake cleaning fluid.

    Material: Brake Cleaner (3U7J-2C410-AA) 

  2. WARNING: If the brake caliper piston seal is damaged a new brake caliper must be installed.

    Inspect the brake caliper piston and slide pin seals for damage.

  3. CAUTION: Do not allow dirt or foreign liquids to enter the brake fluid reservoir.

    • Remove the access cover from the cowl panel.
    • Remove the cap from the brake fluid reservoir.
  4. CAUTION: As the piston is pushed back into the brake caliper housing, the brake fluid level in the reservoir will rise. Do not allow the reservoir to overflow.

    Using a piston retraction tool, fully retract the brake caliper piston.

    Special Tool(s): 206-080 

  5. CAUTION: Make sure that the brake pads are installed in the correct orientation.

    Install the brake pads.

    • Install the brake caliper.
    • Install and tighten the 2 slide pins into the brake caliper.

      Torque: 28 Nm 

    • Install the 2 dust caps.
  7. NOTE: Only do this step if the component was previously removed.

    • Install the brake pad wear sensor.

      Renew Part: Brake pad wear sensor cable Quantity: 1  .

    • Connect and secure the electrical connector.
    • Secure the wiring harness to the 3 clips.
    • Secure the 3 grommets.
  8. NOTE: The brake pad wear sensor is installed on the right side only.

    • Connect the brake pad wear sensor to the brake pad.
    • Secure the 2 grommets.
    • Connect the electrical connector to the Electric Park Brake (EPB) actuator.

    Install the anti-rattle spring.

    Depress the brake pedal several times, check the fluid level in the brake fluid reservoir and top-up to the 'MAX' mark with brake fluid, if necessary.

    • Install the cap to the brake fluid reservoir.
    • Install the access cover to the cowl panel.
  12. Install the wheel and tire assembly.

  13. Connect the Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) approved diagnostic equipment and disable the EPB maintenance position.
