Brake Caliper - V8 S/C 5.0L Petrol (G2264154): Removal

WARNING:
  • Do not allow dirt or foreign liquids to enter the reservoir. Use only new brake fluid of the correct specification from airtight containers. Do not mix brands of brake fluid as they may not be compatible.
  • Do not use compressed air to clean brake components. Dust from friction materials can be harmful if inhaled.
CAUTION:
  • Before disconnecting any components, make sure the area is clean and free from foreign material. When disconnected all openings must be sealed.
  • Take care not to contaminate the brake pad friction materials or the brake discs.
  • If brake fluid is spilt on the paintwork, the affected area must be immediately washed down with cold water.
NOTE:
  • This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
  • This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
  • This procedure contains illustrations for left side components, right side components are similar.
  • The flexible brake hose with washers and the banjo bolt is only available as an assembly.
  • If the brake hose banjo bolt has been loosened or removed, a new brake hose assembly must be installed.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.

    Refer to: LIFTING .

  2. Remove the wheel and tire assembly.

    Refer to: WHEEL AND TIRE - V8 S/C 5.0L PETROL .

  3. NOTE: The brake pad wear sensor installed on the left side only

    • Release the brake pad wear sensor.
    • Release the 2 grommets.

    Remove the 2 retaining pins.

  5. CAUTION: Be prepared to collect escaping fluids.

    • Disconnect the banjo bolt.
    • Disconnect the brake pipe union.
    • Remove the clip.
    • Remove and discard the brake hose.

    • Remove and discard the 2 bolts.
    • Remove the brake caliper.

    Remove and discard the brake pads.

  8. CAUTION: Take extra care not to damage the component.

    Remove the anti-rattle spring.
