Brake Booster (G2174346): Removal
The following step(s) applies to:
All vehicles
WARNING:
Fluid loss is unavoidable, use absorbent cloth or a container to collect the fluid.
CAUTION:
- Before disconnecting any components, make sure the area is clean and free from foreign material. When disconnected all openings must be sealed.
- If brake fluid is spilt on the paintwork, the affected area must be immediately washed down with cold water.
NOTE:
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
- Disconnect the startup battery ground cable.
Refer to: STARTUP BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT .
- Remove the instrument panel lower trim panel.
Refer to: INSTRUMENT PANEL LOWER TRIM PANEL .
- Remove the windshield wiper motor.
Refer to: WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR .
- Remove the brake master cylinder.
Refer to: BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER .
The following step(s) applies to:
Left-hand drive vehicles
- Remove the startup battery tray.
Refer to: STARTUP BATTERY TRAY .
- Remove the 2 nuts.

CAUTION: Take extra care not to damage wiring harnesses.
Reposition the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).

WARNING: Make sure that the area around the component is clean and free of foreign material.
Release the 2 brake pipes from the Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU).

CAUTION: Take extra care not to damage the brake pipes during the removal.
Remove the brake pipes from vehicle.

Right-hand drive vehicles

Disconnect the 2 brake pipes.

CAUTION: Take extra care not to damage the brake pipes during the removal.
Remove the brake pipes from vehicle.
The following step(s) applies to:
All vehicles

- Release the brake booster push rod from the brake pedal.
- Discard the brake booster to brake pedal pin.
- Remove the 4 nuts.

WARNING: Make sure that the area around the component is clean and free of foreign material.
- Disconnect the brake booster vacuum hose.
- Remove the brake booster.
