Instrument Panel (G2181034): Removal
NOTE:
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
- This procedure contains illustrations for left hand drive vehicles, right hand drive vehicles are similar.
- Partially drain the cooling system.
Refer to: COOLING SYSTEM PARTIAL DRAINING AND VACUUM FILLING - ENGINE COOLING - INGENIUM I4 2.0L DIESEL.
- Remove the windshield wiper motor.
Refer to: WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR .
- Remove the thermostatic expansion valve.
Refer to: THERMOSTATIC EXPANSION VALVE .
Disconnect the 2 coolant hoses.
- Open both front doors.

NOTE: Repeat this step for the other side.
- Remove the bolt.
- Release the door check arm.

NOTE: Repeat this step for the other side.
- Disconnect the door wiring harness electrical connector from the body wiring harness.

CAUTION: The component(s) may be heavy. Take care when handling.NOTE:
- This step requires the aid of another technician.
- Repeat this step for the other side.
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Remove the front door.
- Remove the floor console.

Remove the front treadplate.
Refer to: FRONT TREADPLATE .

NOTE: Repeat the procedure for the other side.
Remove the A-pillar trim panel.
Refer to: A-PILLAR TRIM PANEL .
- Remove the clockspring.
Refer to: CLOCKSPRING .
- Remove the passenger side vent.
Refer to: PASSENGER SIDE VENT .
- Remove the driver side vent.
Refer to: DRIVER SIDE VENT .
- Remove the touchscreen.
Refer to: TOUCHSCREEN .
- Remove the screw cover.
- Remove the 3 screws.

NOTE: Take extra care when releasing the clips.
- Remove the Instrument Cluster (IC).
- Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors.
- Release the 3 electrical wiring harness clips.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Remove the screw.
- Release the footwell lamp assembly.
- Remove the driver side footwell vent.
- Release the 3 electrical wiring harness clips.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Remove and discard the lower steering column bolt.
- Remove the 4 bolts.
- Remove the steering column.
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Remove the right air side air vent.
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Remove the left air side air vent.
- Remove the front center air vent.
- Disconnect the 3 electrical connectors.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Remove the screw.
- Remove the passenger side footwell vent.
- Remove the 2 clips.
- Carefully release the front floor carpet for access.
- Remove the clip.
- Carefully release the rear floor carpet for access.
- Remove the nut.
- Remove the air vent.
- Remove the 4 bolts.
- Remove the bracket.
- Disconnect the 4 electrical connectors.
- Release the electrical wiring harness clip.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Release the 2 electrical wiring harness clips.
- Remove the bolt.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Release the 5 electrical wiring harness clips.
- Disconnect the 7 electrical connectors.
- Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors.
- Release the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) carrier clips.
- Position the PCM to one side for access.
- Remove the climate control assembly bolt.
- Remove the 2 front cross-car beam front bolts.

NOTE: Repeat the step for the other side.
- Remove the cover plug.
- Remove the cross-car beam bolt.

NOTE: Repeat the step for the other side.
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Remove the guide plug.

NOTE: Repeat the step for the other side.
- Remove the 2 bolts.

CAUTION:
- Take care not to damage surrounding components.
- Take care not to damage the instrument panel assembly.
- Remove the instrument panel assembly.
- Release the 4 clips.
- Remove the instrument panel center speaker grille.
- Remove the 3 screws.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Remove the instrument panel center speaker.
- Remove the 2 screws.
- Remove the instrument panel center trim.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Disconnect the 3 electrical connectors.
- Release the electrical wiring harness clip.
- Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors.
- Release the electrical wiring harness clip.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Disconnect the electrical wiring harness clip.
- Remove the 2 screws.
- Remove the 4 screws.
- Remove the 4 screws.
- Remove the 4 screws.
- Remove the 2 screws.
- Remove the instrument panel.

NOTE: Only do the following step(s) if a new component is to be installed.
- Remove the 4 screws.
- Release the hose.
- Remove the air ionizer.
- Remove the 9 screws.
- Remove the instrument panel air vent assembly.
- Remove the 7 screws.
- Remove the Head Up Display (HUD).
- Remove the 8 nuts.
- Remove the passenger airbag.
- Remove the 4 screws.
- Remove the 2 A-pillar brackets.
