WARNING:
Be prepared to collect escaping fluids.
CAUTION:
Before disconnecting any components, make sure the area is clean and free from foreign material. When disconnected all openings must be sealed.
NOTE:
- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
- Disconnect the startup battery ground cable.

- Read the petrol fuel system health and safety precautions.

- Release fuel system pressure.
Refer to: FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE
- Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.

- Remove the hood.
Refer to: HOOD
- Drain the cooling system.
- Remove the electric cooling fan and shroud.
Refer to: ELECTRIC COOLING FAN AND SHROUD
- Remove the front left halfshaft.
Refer to: FRONT HALFSHAFT
- Remove the front right halfshaft.
Refer to: FRONT HALFSHAFT
- Remove the transmission.
Refer to: TRANSMISSION - V6 S/C 3.0L PETROL
- Disconnect the 3 coolant pipe connectors.
- Remove the coolant pipe.
- Remove the clip.
- Remove the 2 coolant hose clamps.
- Disconnect the 2 coolant hose connectors.
- Remove the coolant hose assembly.
- Disconnect the lower coolant hose connector.
- Reposition the lower coolant hose away from the engine.
- Remove the 2 clips.
- Disconnect the 4 coolant hose connectors to the charge air cooler.
- Remove the coolant hose assembly.
- Disconnect the 2 coolant hose connectors.
- Reposition the 2 coolant hoses away from the engine.
- Remove the coolant hose clamp.
- Disconnect the coolant hose connector.
- Remove the coolant hose.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Remove the coolant hose clamp.
- Disconnect the 2 coolant hose connectors.
- Remove the coolant hose assembly.

WARNING: Be prepared to collect escaping fuel.
- Disconnect the 2 fuel line connectors.
- Reposition the 2 fuel lines away from the engine.
- Disconnect the 2 vacuum pipe connectors.
- Reposition the vacuum pipe assembly away from the engine.
- Remove the oil filler cap.
- Remove both Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) covers.
- Move the accessory drive belt tensioner as illustrated to release the tension from the accessory drive belt.
- Reposition the accessory drive belt away from the Air Conditioning (A/C) compressor.
- Release the accessory drive belt tensioner.

NOTE: If equipped.
- Remove the 2 retainers.
- Remove the trim panel.

NOTE: If equipped.
- Remove the clip.
- Remove the 3 retainers.
- Remove the trim panel.
- Remove the bolt.
- Release the transmission oil cooler from the bracket.
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Remove the transmission oil cooler bracket.
- Remove the nut.
- Reposition the transmission oil cooler and pipe assembly away from the engine.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Remove the wiring harness clip.
- Remove the 3 bolts.
- Reposition the A/C compressor away from the engine.

CAUTION: Do not use excessive force to remove the component.
- Release the 2 clips.
- Remove the starter motor cable cover.
- Remove the nut.
- Reposition the starter motor cable away from the engine.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Remove the bolt.
- Remove the bracket.
- Install the special tool.
Special Tool(s): 303-1436
- Install and tighten the bolt.
Torque : 25 Nm
- Install the special tool.
- Install the special tool.
Special Tool(s): 303-1435
- Install and tighten the bolt.
Torque : 25 Nm
- Install the special tool.

NOTE: If equipped
- Remove the bolt.
- Reposition the ground cable away from the engine mounting.
Remove the engine mounting nut.
Remove the engine mounting nut.
Remove the engine support bracket.
Special Tool(s): 303-021

CAUTION: Take care not to damage surrounding components.
Use a suitable hydraulic jib crane to remove the engine.
