Procedure 

CAUTION: New transmission assemblies are supplied pre-filled with transmission fluid
NOTE:
  • Some illustrations may show the transmission removed for clarity.
  • Some variation in the illustrations may occur, but the essential information is always correct.
  1. Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect (General Procedures).
  2. WARNING: Make sure to support the vehicle with axle stands.

    Raise and support the vehicle.

  3. Refer to: Engine Cover - INGENIUM I4 2.0L Diesel (Removal and Installation).
  4. Refer to: Cowl Vent Screen (Removal and Installation).

    • Be prepared to collect escaping fluids.
    • Remove and discard the O-ring seals.

  28. CAUTION: Make sure that the driveshaft is supported with suitable retaining straps.
    NOTE:
    • Make sure that the special tool is correctly installed to the recess on the driveshaft.
    • Using a suitable hammer and drift, make sure that you only hit the corner edges of the special tool to remove the driveshaft.

  29. CAUTION: Discard the bolt.
    NOTE: Mark the position of the driveshaft on the transmission flange.

  31. WARNING: Make sure that the transmission is secured with suitable retaining straps.

    • General Equipment:  Transmission jack

  36. WARNING: This step requires the aid of another technician.
    CAUTION:
    • Care must be taken to avoid damaging the surrounding components.
    • Make sure that the torque converter remains in the transmission.
    NOTE: Secure the torque converter to the transmission using suitable cable ties.
