Removal And Installation: Removal

NOTE:
  • Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  • Select NEUTRAL before disconnecting the battery, to allow the driveshaft to be turned by hand.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle.
    WARNING: Do not work on or under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always support the vehicle on safety stands.
  2. Refer to: Exhaust System .
  3. Refer to: Exhaust System - Vehicles With: Diesel Exhaust Fluid.

    Refer to: Exhaust System - Vehicles Without: Diesel Exhaust Fluid.

    CAUTION: If Equipped
  4. Vehicles with automatic transmission.

    Torque Specification: 11 Nm 

  5. Vehicles with automatic transmission.
    NOTE: Release the transmission park interlock lever to allow rotation of driveshaft.

    Torque Specification: 9 Nm 

  7. Mark the position of the driveshaft flange in relation to the output flange.
    NOTE: Make sure that you re-align the driveshaft to the transmission flange using the alignment mark.

  8. CAUTION:
    • Discard the bolts.
    • Make sure that the driveshaft is supported with suitable retaining straps.
    • Make sure that new bolts are installed.

    Renew Part: Front driveshaft constant velocity joint bolts Quantity: 1

    Torque Specification: 75 Nm 

  9. Mark the position of the driveshaft in relation to the rear drive axle flange.
    NOTE: Make sure that you re-align the driveshaft to the differential case flange using the alignment mark.

  10. CAUTION:
    • Discard the bolts.
    • Make sure that the driveshaft is supported with suitable retaining straps.
    • Make sure that new bolts are installed.

    Renew Part: Front driveshaft constant velocity joint bolts Quantity: 1

    Torque Specification: 75 Nm 

  11. WARNING: This step requires the aid of another technician.

    Torque Specification: 48 Nm
