General Equipment

EQUIPMENT NAME
Hydraulic jib crane
WARNING:
  • Be prepared to collect escaping fuel.
  • Be prepared to collect escaping engine coolant.
CAUTION:
  • All the components removed from the old engine must be cleaned and inspected before installing to the new engine. Any worn or damaged components or clips must be replaced.
  • Before disconnecting any components, make sure the area is clean and free from foreign material. When disconnected all openings must be sealed.
NOTE:
  • Note the orientation of the component prior to removal.
  • This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
  • This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
  1. WARNING: This step requires the aid of another technician.

    Use suitable lifting equipment to install the engine assembly.

    Special Tool(s): 303-1435, 303-1436 

    General Equipment: Hydraulic jib crane

    Install and tighten the right engine mount nut.

    Torque: 60Nm

    Install and tighten the left engine mount nut.

    Torque: 60Nm 

  4. NOTE: The procedure must be completed on both sides.

    Remove the special tool.

    Special Tool(s): 303-1435

    Remove the special tool.

    Special Tool(s): 303-1436

    • Install the coolant hose support bracket.
    • Install and tighten the bolt.

    Torque: 25Nm

    • Reposition the transmission cooler hoses.
    • Install and tighten the bolt.

      Torque: 10Nm

    • Reposition the positive cable.
    • Install and tighten the nut.

      Torque: 12Nm

    Install the cover.

    • Reposition the Air Conditioning (A/C) compressor.
    • Install and tighten the 3 bolts.

      Torque: 25Nm 

    • Connect the electrical connector.

    • Use a suitable tool to position the tensioner as illustrated.
    • Install the accessory drive belt.
    • Release the belt tension.

    • Remove the oil filler cap.
    • Install the 2 Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) materials.
    • Install the oil filler cap.

    Connect the vacuum pipe assembly.

    • Connect the fuel line.
    • Connect the evaporative emission pipe.

    • Connect the electrical connector.
    • Install the wiring harness clip.
    • Connect the coolant hose.

    • Install and connect the coolant hose.
    • Install the coolant hose into the clip.

    Connect the 2 coolant hoses.

    • Install the coolant pipe assembly and connect the 4 connectors.
    • Connect the radiator coolant hose.

    • Install the coolant pipe assembly.
    • Connect the 3 coolant pipe connectors.
    • Install the 2 coolant pipe clips.
    • Install the coolant pipe assembly into the 2 clips.

    • Install the coolant pipe assembly.
    • Connect the 2 coolant pipe connectors.
  21. Install the transmission.

    Refer to: TRANSMISSION - V8 S/C 5.0L PETROL, PROJECT 8 .

  22. Install both front halfshafts.

    Refer to: FRONT HALFSHAFT .

  23. Install the cooling fan motor and shroud.

    Refer to: ELECTRIC COOLING FAN AND SHROUD .

  24. Vacuum fill the coolant system.

    Refer to: COOLING SYSTEM PARTIAL DRAINING AND VACUUM FILLING .

  25. Install the secondary bulkhead left inner panel.

    Refer to: SECONDARY BULKHEAD LEFT INNER PANEL - PROJECT 8 .

  26. Install the secondary bulkhead right inner panel.

    Refer to: SECONDARY BULKHEAD RIGHT INNER PANEL - PROJECT 8 .

  27. Install the hood.

    Refer to: HOOD .

  28. Connect the startup battery ground cable.

    Refer to: STARTUP BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT .
