General Procedures

NOTE:
  • Some variation in the illustrations may occur, but the essential information is always correct.
  • All measurements must be taken with the wheel installed.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle.
    WARNING: Make sure to support the vehicle with axle stands.
  2. Remove the brake pads for access.
    NOTE: One side only.

  3. Install the wheel and tire.
  4. Modify tool 100-053 with an M8 bolt and nut as shown.

  5. Mount the DTI on the tool as shown. Dial Test Indicator (DTI) gauge

  6. Mount the tool onto the face of caliper anchor bracket.

  7. Position the DTI probe 5 mm from the outer edge of the disc.

    • Zero DTI and rotate road wheel one complete revolution to measure disc runout.
  8. Position the DTI probe in the centre of the disc.

    • Zero DTI and rotate road wheel one complete revolution to measure disc runout.
  9. Position the DTI probe 5 mm from the inner edge of the disc.

    • Zero DTI and rotate road wheel one complete revolution to measure disc runout.
  10. If the disc runout exceeds the limit check the wheel hub and bearing runout.
    NOTE: The disc runout limit is 0.070 mm.

  11. Remove the special tool.

  12. Remove the wheel and tire.
  13. Install the brake pads.
