Removal And Installation: Removal

NOTE:

  1. Remove the electric thermostat.

    Refer to: Electric Thermostat (Removal and Installation).

  2. Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the 2 bolts.

  3. Evenly and progressively, remove the variable valve timing oil control solenoid.
    CAUTION: Evenly and progressively remove.

  4. Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the 2 bolts.

  5. Evenly and progressively, remove the variable valve timing oil control solenoid.
    CAUTION: Evenly and progressively, remove.

    Remove the variable valve timing (VVT) unit.

  6. Disconnect the startup battery ground cable.

    Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect (General Procedures).

  7. Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.
