Removal And Installation: Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. CAUTION:
    • Make sure that the steering column lock actuator is not engaged and in the service position. Failure to follow this instruction will make removal of the steering column lock actuator and installation of the steering system impossible. Failure to follow this instruction may result in damage to the vehicle
    • If the steering column lock actuator cannot be disengaged extra care needs to be taken when removing the steering column. When disconnecting the steering column lower shaft only move the shaft by the minimum possible amount. Failure to follow this instruction will make the removal of the steering column lock actuator impossible.

  2. CAUTION:
    • Using a suitable tool, remove the tamper proof fixing.
    • Take extra care not to damage any components whilst removing the tamper proof fixings.
    NOTE:
    • Discard the tamper proof fixings.
    • The fixing must be fully tightened immediately following installation. Do not leave the fixing partially installed as adhesive may be activated.
    • Tighten the new tamper proof bolts until the head shears.

  3. CAUTION:
    • Using a suitable tool, remove the tamper proof fixing.
    • Take extra care not to damage any components whilst removing the tamper proof fixings.
    NOTE:
    • Discard the tamper proof fixings.
    • The fixing must be fully tightened immediately following installation. Do not leave the fixing partially installed as adhesive may be activated.
    • Tighten the new tamper proof bolts until the head shears.
