Removal And Installation: Removal

WARNING:
  • Allow a period of 10 minutes to elapse after disconnecting the battery before undertaking any work on the SRS.
  • To avoid accidental deployment and possible personal injury, the backup power supply must be depleted before repairing or replacing any air bag supplementary restraints system (SRS) components. To deplete the backup power supply energy, disconnect the battery ground cable and wait for one minute. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury.
  • Take extra care when handling SRS components.
CAUTION: Make sure that the road wheels are in the straight ahead position.
NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. Make the SRS system safe.

    Refer to: Standard Workshop Practices .

  2. Remove the driver air bag module.

    Refer to: Driver Airbag Module .

  3. G11308831

    Torque: 48 Nm 

  4. CAUTION: Make sure that the wheels and tires are in the straight-ahead position. Failure to follow this instruction may result in damage to the components.
    NOTE: Note the steering wheel to column alignment mark.

  5. Secure with adhesive tape.
    CAUTION: Make sure that the clockspring rotor does not rotate.
    NOTE: Do not disassemble further if the component is removed for access only.

    Torque: 2.5 Nm
