Removal And Installation: Removal

WARNING:
Observe due care when working near a hot exhaust system.
CAUTION:
Make sure that all openings are sealed.
NOTE:

- Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift. Refer to: Lifting .
- Disconnect the battery ground cable.

- Remove the intake air resonator.
Refer to: Intake Air Resonator .
- Remove the air deflector.
Refer to: Air Deflector .
- Partially drain the cooling system.
Refer to: Cooling System Partial Draining and Vacuum Filling .
- Remove the turbocharger upper heatshield.
- Remove the turbocharger upper heatshield.
- Remove the turbocharger upper heatshield.
- Remove the turbocharger lower heatshield.

CAUTION: Be prepared to collect escaping oil.
- Release the turbocharger oil feed pipe.
- Remove and discard the banjo bolt and washers.

CAUTION: Be prepared to collect escaping coolant.
- Release the coolant pipes.
- Inspect the seals. Replace if damaged.
- Release the catalytic converter from the turbocharger.
- Remove and discard the gasket.
- Remove and discard the clamp.
- Release the catalytic converter.
- Remove the turbocharger outlet pipe.
- Inspect the seals. Replace if damaged.

CAUTION: Be prepared to collect escaping oil.
- Remove the turbocharger oil return tube using the sequence illustrated.
- Remove and discard the O-ring seals.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Remove the turbocharger.
- Remove and discard the turbocharger gasket.
