Instrument Cluster: Notes
The Instrument Cluster (IC) does not use natural light to illuminate the display. The IC relies upon backlight to illuminate the displays and separate illumination sources for the warning indicators. The level of illumination of the display has both a manual and automatic control.
The manual control is provided by the IC dimmer control. The manual control enable the driver to adjust the level of illumination of the IC backlight to their preference.
The automatic control is provided by light sensors in the IC. The automatic control adjusts the level of illumination for day or night. The switch between day/night mode is controlled by a set of timers and light threshold levels which uses the measured light sensor output. There are three speeds of transition between day and night used:
- Slow speed transitions, are more than 2 minutes
- Medium speed transitions, are more than 10 seconds and less than 2 minutes
- Fast speed transitions, are less than 10 seconds.
