Removal And Installation: Removal

WARNING: Be prepared to collect escaping coolant.
CAUTION: Before disconnecting any components, make sure the area is clean and free from foreign material. When disconnected all openings must be sealed.
NOTE:
  • This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
  • This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle.

    Refer to: LIFTING .

  2. Drain the cooling system

    Refer to: Cooling System Draining and Vacuum Filling .

  3. Remove the accessory drive belt.

  4. Remove the low pressure Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve.

    Refer to: LOW PRESSURE EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION VALVE .

  5. Remove the EGR pressure sensor.

  6. Release the wiring harness

  7. Disconnect the upper coolant pipe. Discard the O-ring seal.

  8. Disconnect the lower coolant pipe.

  9. Disconnect the EGR cooler intake pipe.

  10. Remove the low pressure EGR cooler. Discard the O-ring seal and gasket.
    NOTE: Do not disassemble further if the component is removed for access only.

  11. Remove the low pressure EGR temperature sensor.
