Removal And Installation: Installation

- Install the timing chain.
- Using a suitable tool, remove and discard the lower timing chain cover blanking plug.

CAUTION: Make sure the timing chain is located on the idler pulley.
- Make sure a new lower timing chain blanking plug is installed.
Renew Part: Lower timing cover blanking cap

NOTE: This step is to make sure the timing chain is in the correct position on the gears.
Install the previously retained hydraulic tensioner and allow it to release fully. With the chain in this condition, push the opposite left side of the chain towards the cylinder head, there should be a gap between the chain and the cylinder head. If the chain is not in this condition, or there is no gap, reposition the chain on the idler gear and re-measure.
- Remove and discard the hydraulic tensioner.
Renew Part: Timing chain tensioner

- Install a new timing chain tensioner lever arm.NOTE: If the timing chain tensioner arm can not be installed refer to the previous step.
Renew Part: Timing chain tensioner
- Install the special tool.
- Install a new bolt.
- Torque Specification:
Stage 1: 10 Nm
Stage 2: Loosen: 90°
Stage 3: 25 Nm
Stage 4: 40°
- Remove the special tool.
- Install a new fixed timing chain guide.
- Torque Specification: 25 Nm
- Install a new hydraulic timing chain tensioner.
- Renew Part: Timing chain tensioner
- Torque Specification: 55 Nm

CAUTION: Make sure the lower timing chain tensioner is fully deployed.
- Remove the special tool.
- Remove the special tool.
Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1630
- Refer to: Upper Timing Cover .
Torque Specification: 40 Nm
Torque Specification: 12 Nm
