Removal And Installation: Removal

NOTE:

  1. Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.

    Refer to: Lifting .

  2. Disconnect the startup battery ground cable.

    Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect .

  3. Remove the crankshaft rear oil seal.

    Refer to: Crankshaft Rear Seal .

  4. Release the coolant pipes.

  5. Remove the 2 bolts.
    CAUTION: Note the installed position of the component(s) prior to removal.

  6. Remove the 17 bolts.
    CAUTION:
    • Note the position of the bolts, prior to removal.
    • Be prepared to collect escaping oil.

  7. Using a suitable tool, position the dowels as shown in the illustration.
    CAUTION: Take extra care not to damage the surrounding components.
