Removal And Installation: Installation

All vehicles

Install a new gasket.
Renew Part: Exhaust manifold gasket.
CAUTION: If the original cylinder head is installed use the special tools stated in this step. Failure to follow this instruction may cause damage to the cylinder head.

Special Tool(s): 303-1444-01
CAUTION: If a new cylinder head is installed use the special tools stated in this step. Failure to follow this instruction may cause damage to the cylinder head.

Special Tool(s): 303-1444-02
Tighten the retaining bolts in the illustrated sequence.

Torque Specification:
1. Stage 1: 15 Nm
2. Stage 2: 28 Nm
Remove the special tools.

Special Tool(s): 303-1444-01, 303-1444-02
Tighten the retaining bolts in the illustrated sequence.

Torque Specification:
1. Stage 1: 15 Nm
2. Stage 2: 28 Nm
- Install the EGR pipe.
- Install a new gasket.
  Renew Part: Exhaust gas recirculation gasket.
  
  Torque Specification: 12 Nm
Install the heatshields.
Torque Specification: 8 Nm

Vehicles with diesel particulate filter (DPF)
Install the catalytic converter and Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) assembly.

Vehicles without diesel particulate filter (DPF)
Install the catalytic converter assembly.
Refer to: Catalytic Converter .

All vehicles
Install the turbocharger.
Refer to: Turbocharger .
Connect the startup battery ground cable.
Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect .
