General Procedures: Part(S)

Step 6 Oil pan drain plug 1
Step 9 Oil filter 1
Step 9 Oil filter O-ring seal 1
WARNING: The spilling of hot engine oil is unavoidable during this procedure, care must be taken to prevent scalding.
CAUTION: Make sure the engine is warm.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle.
    WARNING: Make sure to support the vehicle with axle stands.
  2. Remove the engine cover.

    Refer to: Engine Cover - INGENIUM I4 2.0L Diesel .

  3. Remove the air deflector.

    Refer to: Air Deflector

    • Loosen the oil filter element cover 4 complete turns to allow the engine oil to drain.
    • Allow the engine oil to drain from the oil filter element cover for 2 minutes.
  5. Drain the engine oil.
    WARNING: Observe due care when draining engine oil as the oil can be very hot.
    CAUTION:
    • Be prepared to collect escaping oil.
    • Discard the bolt.
    • Allow at least 10 minutes for the engine oil to drain.

  6. Install the oil pan drain plug.
    CAUTION:
    • Make sure that the component is clean, free of foreign material and lubricant.
    • Make sure that a new bolt is installed.

    Renew Part: Oil pan drain plug. 

    Torque Specification: 23 Nm 

  7. Remove the oil filter element cover and oil filter element.

    • Remove and discard the oil filter element.
    • Remove and discard the O-ring seal.
  9. CAUTION: Make sure a new O-ring seal is installed.

    • Install a new oil filter element to the oil filter element cover.

      Renew Part: Oil filter. 

    • Install a new O-ring seal.

      Renew Part: Oil filter O-ring seal. 

    • Lubricate the O-ring seal with clean engine oil.
  10. Install the oil filter element cover.

    Torque Specification: 27 Nm 

  11. Remove the engine oil level indicator.

  12. Fill the engine with oil.

    Refer to: Specifications .

  13. Clean any residual engine oil from the oil filler cap area.
    CAUTION: Make sure that the vehicle is left for 5 minutes from filling with oil and that the engine oil level is reading at least minimum, before starting the engine. To check engine oil level follow steps 13-17.

  14. Clean any residual engine oil from the oil filler cap area.

  15. Check the engine oil level

  16. Install the engine oil level indicator.
    NOTE: Make sure that the oil level indicator is installed in the correct orientation.

  17. NOTE: Make sure that the oil level indicator is fully installed.

    • Start the engine and allow to run for 10 minutes, stop the engine.
    • Check for leaks.
  18. Install the air deflector.

    Refer to: Air Deflector .

  19. Install the engine cover.

    Refer to: Engine Cover - INGENIUM I4 2.0L Diesel .
