Removal And Installation: Installation

All vehicles 

1. Install the new rear crankshaft seal with the supplied plastic sleeve (A) to the rear of the crankshaft. Using the special tool tap the seal gently over the crankshaft until the plastic sleeve (A) is released from the seal.
   CAUTION: Do not separate the new oil seal from the plastic sleeve, if the plastic sleeve is removed a new seal must be used.
   NOTE: Make sure that all the component mating faces are clean.

   Special Tool(s):  JLR-303-1632

   Renew Part:  Crankshaft rear seal Quantity: 1

2. Remove the plastic sleeve (A) from the crankshaft.
3. Using special tool JLR-303-1632 install the crankshaft rear oil seal. Tighten the bolts evenly in stages until the seal is fully located within the timing cover, do not over tighten the bolts.
   CAUTION: Make sure the seal is installed correctly.
4. Remove the special tool.

   Special Tool(s):  JLR-303-1632

   Vehicles with automatic transmission 

5. Install the flexplate.

   Refer to: Flexplate .

   Vehicles with manual transmission 

6. Install the flywheel.

   Refer to: Flywheel .

   All vehicles 

7. Connect the startup battery ground cable.

   Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect .
