Removal And Installation: Installation

If a new camshaft carrier is not being installed, make sure that the dowels have been cleaned and all traces of sealant is removed.
Install the lifting brackets.
NOTE: Only carry out this step if previously removed

Torque Specification: 47 Nm
Install the oil filler neck.
NOTE:
- Only carry out this step if previously removed
- Install a new seal.
Renew Part: Oil fill pipe O-ring seal

Torque Specification: 12 Nm
Install a new seal the breather vent module assembly.
NOTE:
- Only carry out this step if previously removed
- Install the component and finger tighten the bolts before final tightening in sequence illustrated.
Renew Part: Breather vent module seal

Torque Specification: 12 Nm
NOTE:
- Only carry out this step if previously removed
- Install the components and finger tighten the bolts before final tightening in sequence illustrated.
- Make sure that these components are installed to the noted removal position.
- Install the camshafts.
- Install the camshaft bearing caps
  Torque Specification: 11 Nm
Align the camshafts and install the special tool JLR-303-1625.

Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1625
Install the camshaft carrier and tighten the bolts in the illustrated sequence.
CAUTION: Install and finger tighten bolts before final tightening in sequence illustrated.

NOTE: Install a new gasket.

Renew Part: Camshaft carrier gasket

Torque Specification:
1. M8 x 80
  Stage 1: 15 Nm
  
  Stage 2: 45°
2. M8 x 40 25 Nm
Install the breather vent module pipe.
Install the cylinder head temperature sensor electrical connector bracket.
Torque Specification: 12 Nm
Install the wiring harness and connect the 2 electrical connectors.
Install the Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) material.
Install the camshaft gear bolt finger tight at this stage.

Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1625

Renew Part: Camshaft sprocket bolt
Install the special tool.

Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1631
Fully tighten the camshaft gear bolt and remove the special tool.

Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1631

Torque Specification:
1. Stage 1: 80 Nm
2. Stage 2: Loosen 90°
3. Stage 3: 80 Nm
4. Stage 4: 90°
Install the upper timing chain.
Refer to: Upper Timing Chain .
Install the fuel injectors.
Refer to: Fuel Injectors .
Install the fuel rail.
Refer to: Fuel Rail .
Connect the startup battery ground cable.
Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect .
