Engine Control Module (ECM)

The ECM is installed in the front passenger side of the engine compartment, on a bracket attached to the engine bulkhead.
The ECM has the capability of adapting its fuel and ignition control outputs in response to several sensor inputs.
The ECM receives inputs from the following:
- Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor
- Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor (4 off)
- Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor (2 off)
- Knock sensor (2 off)
- Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor
- Mass Air Flow and Temperature (MAFT) sensor (2 off)
- Manifold Absolute Pressure and Temperature (MAPT) sensor
- Throttle position sensor
- Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) (6 off)
- Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) sensor
- Ambient Air Temperature (AAT) sensor

The ECM provides outputs to the following:
- Electric throttle.
- Main EMS relay.
- Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) (4 off).
- Fuel injectors (6 off). Refer to: Fuel Charging and Controls - V6 S/C 3.0L Petrol
- Ignition coils (6 off). Refer to: Engine Ignition - V6 S/C 3.0L Petrol
- Variable camshaft timing (VCT) solenoids (4 off). Refer to: Engine - V6 S/C 3.0L
- Evaporative emissions canister purge valve. Refer to: Evaporative Emissions - V6 S/C 3.0L Petrol
