A park brake activity indicator is located in the IC message center. The EPBCM sends a message to the IC via the HS CAN powertrain systems bus to operate the park brake activity indicator. When the EPB is applied in the static mode, the park brake activity indicator is permanently illuminated red while the ignition is on, and for 10 seconds after the ignition is goes off.
If the park brake actuator status is unknown the red park brake activity indicator will flash. If a fault is detected, the amber brake warning indicator is illuminated, and the message 'PARK BRAKE FAULT' will also appear in the IC message center. If the vehicle is moving with the electric park brake applied, the message 'CAUTION PARK BRAKE APPLIED' will appear in the message center accompanied by a chime from the IC.
