Electric Park Brake Control Module [EPBCM]
The EPBCM is located on the left side of the luggage compartment, behind the rear quarter trim panel, and secured to a mounting bracket with two nuts. The EPBCM has a battery power feed from the RJB (Rear Junction Box) and an ignition power supply from the ignition relay in the CJB (Central Junction Box). The EPBCM is also connected to the HS CAN Powertrain bus, allowing it to communicate with other vehicle systems.
Inputs from other components are received on the HS CAN powertrain systems bus, as follows:
- Vehicle speed, from the ABS (Anti-lock Brake System) control module
- APP (Accelerator Pedal Position) sensor signal, from the ECM (Engine Control Module)
- Brake pedal switch signal, from the CJB
- Gear position, from the TCM (Transmission Control Module).
The EPBCM monitors the condition of the EPB switch through a series of hardwired electrical connections and controls operation of the electric park brake actuators accordingly.
The EPBCM controls the two EPB actuators using a dual micro controller to provide separate control transmission for each EPB actuator. An inclination sensor and a G (gravity) sensor are integrated into the EPBCM. The inclination sensor allows the EPBCM to determine the longitudinal attitude of the vehicle. The G sensor allows the EPB control module to monitor vehicle deceleration.
