The table raise and lower mechanism comprises a number of assemblies; table motor assembly, table rising assembly and table tilt assembly
Table Motor Assembly
The table motor assembly comprises a 12V motor and worm drive gear, table motor housing and a lead screw.
The motor is located in the motor housing and secured with three screws. The lead screw is located in a bearing which is retained with three screws.
The base of the lead screw is fitted with a worm drive gear which meshes with the worm drive gear on the motor. Rotation of the motor in either direction is transferred to the lead screw to raise or lower the table. The lead screw is located in a cam nut assembly which transfers the rotary movement of the lead screw into linear movement of the table rising assembly. The top of the lead screw is located in a bearing in the swivel tray upper mounting plate.
The motor has an external encoder which provides feedback to the RECM for table position. The encoder is located on the rear of the motor. An encoder Printed Circuit Board (PCB) which contains the encoder connector, is located on a bracket adjacent to the motor. The PCB houses the encoder connector.
A table stowed microswitch is located on the motor housing. The microswitch informs the RECM that the table is in the stowed position which is detected when the table is lowered and the tilt mechanism operates. The table latch is spring loaded, when the table is lowered the table pushes the latch back against the spring and the latch then drops into the detent at the end of the table.
Table Rising Assembly
The table rising assembly comprises a machined disc plate housing, two slide shafts and bearings, swivel neck and spur gear and two dampers.
The swivel neck is fitted with a spur gear at its base which is retained with two screws. A bearing is pressed into the base of the swivel neck and this locates on a boss on the top of the disc plate housing. A shoulder screw, located in a hole in the swivel neck, screws into a thread in the center of the boss. The shoulder screw ensures that the correct loading is applied to the bearing and retains the swivel neck on the disc plate housing.
Two damper assemblies are attached to the disc plate housing with two screws each. The spur gear engages with the damper gears to provides a smooth and controlled rotation of the table.
The disc plate housing is fitted with two tubular plain bearings which are retained in position with circlips. The bearings provide a positive location for the slide shafts which allow the disc plate housing to slide when raising or lowering the table.
A microswitch is located on the top face of the disc plate housing. The lower flange of the swivel neck has an indentation which operates the microswitch to inform the RECM that the table is in the forward position. The table cannot be fully lowered to the stowed position if this signal is not detected.
Two cam followers are located on the each side of the disc plate housing. The cam followers located in channels in each table tilt housing. The channels are curved at the bottom and the movements of the cam followers in the curved channel operates the tilt mechanism.
The slide shafts move in bearings located in the disc plate housing. The bearings are secured in the housing with four circlips, two for each bearing. As the table rises and lowers, the disc plate housing slides on the slide shaft, ensuring that the table rises vertically and providing additional support for the table.
Table Tilt Assembly
The table has a tilt feature which tilts the table into its stowed position during the last movement when lowering.
The tilt mechanism comprises a swivel tray upper mounting plate, two table tilting braces, two table tilt housings, two housings and a rear plate.
The swivel tray upper mounting has a bearing into which the top of the lead screw is located. Two swivel shafts are fitted to the swivel tray, these allow the tray to pivot when the table reaches its stowed position. The swivel shafts locate in plain bearings which are fitted to the table tilt housings.
The two table tilt housings each have a machined channel which curves near the bottom of the housing. The cam followers, fitted to the disc plate housing, locate in this groove. As the table is lowered, the followers move through the curve which tilts the table forwards into the stowed position.
Table Assembly
The table assembly comprises two separate assemblies and a swivel hinge.
The table base assembly has two rotary dampers which operate on a rack attached to the lower table. Four linear slide bearings allow a smooth and controlled movement of the upper table assembly when the table is extended.
The upper table assembly comprises the sliding table assembly. This locates on the table base slide mechanism.
The swivel hinge allows the table to be moved through 180 degrees, allowing it to be used by either the left or right rear passenger.
Bottle Cool Box
Bottle Cool Box Components

| 10 | Cooling fan |
The bottle cool box is located in the centre of the rear seat backrest. The cool box has a sliding door which slides vertically to gain access to the bottle holder. When the door is opened, a damped gear mechanism tilts the bottle holder forward to allow the bottle to be removed or replaced. When the door is closed, the bottle holder tilts rearwards to stow the bottle.
The bottle cool box comprises a fabricated structure to which the cool box components are mounted. Two LED s are located at the top of the bottle present box and illuminate the bottle present box when the sliding door is open.
Bottle Cool Box Damper and Present Mechanism Components
| ITEM | DESCRIPTION |
|---|---|
| 1 | Small spur gear |
| 2 | Bottle cool box door rack |
| 3 | Illumination microswitch |
| 4 | Gear spacer dowel |
| 5 | Damper gear |
| 6 | Damper |
| 7 | Large spur gear |
| 8 | Spiral groove |
| 9 | Dowel location hole |
The damper and present mechanism comprises a small spur gear, a large spur gear, a gear spacer, a damper gear and a damper mechanism. All of the damper components are attached to a damper plate which is secured to the bottle cool box structure with screws.
The bottle holder has two pins which are located in plain bearings in the cool box structure. The pins allow the bottle holder to tilt with the rotation of the large spur gear.
The bottle cool box door has a rack which drives the small spur gear as the door is opened. The small spur gear then drives the large spur gear which in turn drives the damper gear which operates the damper. The damper ensures the opening and closing of the bottle cool box door is smooth and controlled.
The large spur gear is mounted on a gear spacer which rotates on a bearing. The gear spacer has a dowel that locates in a hole in the large spur gear, ensuring that the gear spacer rotates with the large spur gear. The gear spacer has a flat area on its outer circumference. The flat area operates a microswitch for the illumination of the bottle cool box LED s.
The large spur gear has a machined spiral groove into which a pin on the bottle holder is located. As the bottle cool box door is opened, and the large spur gear is rotated, the bottle holder pin moves in the spiral groove and tilts the bottle holder forwards. When the door is closed, the large spur gear rotates in the opposite direction, tilting the bottle holder backwards to its stowed position.

Drinking Glass and Cup Holders
Two drinking glass holders and cup holders are located below the table and are accessed by raising the table and pivoting it at 90 degrees.
The holders are made from a number of moldings to form the holder assembly. The drinking glass holders are designed to store Champagne flutes. The cup holders cannot store cups or glasses but will retain them securely.
The drinking glass holders are illuminated by LED s.
