Flywheel (G1867848): Removal

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.

CAUTION: Under no circumstances should the flywheel retaining bolts be inserted into the crankshaft with the flywheel removed. Failure to follow this instruction will result in damage to the engine.

NOTE:

Some components shown removed for clarity.
Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

Disconnect the battery ground cable.
Refer to: STARTUP BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT
WARNING: Make sure to support the vehicle with axle stands.

Raise and support the vehicle.

CAUTION:
- Only rotate the crankshaft clockwise.
- The four locating pegs of the special tool must be installed correctly into the crankshaft pulley.

- Install the special tool onto the crankshaft pulley.
  Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1630
- Rotate the engine so the special tool can be installed into the cylinder block as illustrated.
WARNING: This step requires the aid of another technician.

CAUTION: Discard the bolts.
