All vehicles
- Before working on the fuel system make sure to study the fuel system health and safety article of this service information.
Refer to: PETROL AND PETROL-ETHANOL FUEL SYSTEMS HEALTH AND SAFETY PRECAUTIONS .
- Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.
Refer to: LIFTING .
- Disconnect the startup battery ground cable.
Refer to: STARTUP BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT .
- Remove the hood.
Refer to: HOOD .
- Remove the cowl panel.
Refer to: COWL PANEL .
- Remove the secondary bulkhead left panel.
Refer to: SECONDARY BULKHEAD LEFT PANEL - INGENIUM I4 2.0L PETROL .
- Remove the charge air cooler.
Refer to: CHARGE AIR COOLER .
- Remove the radiator.
Refer to: RADIATOR .
- Remove the catalytic converter.
Refer to: CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND GASOLINE PARTICULATE FILTER ASSEMBLY - VEHICLES WITH: NAS SPECIFICATION .

- Remove the transmission.

Vehicles with All Wheel Drive (AWD)
- Remove both halfshafts.
Refer to: FRONT HALFSHAFT .
The following step(s) applies to:
All vehicles
- Remove the air conditioning compressor.
Refer to: AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR - INGENIUM I4 2.0L PETROL .
Remove the fluid cooler pipe bolt.
- Disconnect the block heater electrical connector.
- Reposition the wiring harness away from the engine.
- Remove the cover.
- Remove the nut.
- Reposition the wiring harness away from the engine.
- Remove the 4 bolts.
- Remove the left side body brace.
- Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors.
- Reposition the wiring harness away from the powertrain control module.
- Disconnect the 2 pipes.
- Reposition the 2 fuel pipes away from the engine.
- Disconnect the coolant top hose from the engine.
- Reposition the coolant hose away from the engine.
- Disconnect the 3 coolant hoses from rear of the engine.
- Reposition the 3 coolant hoses away from the engine.
- Disconnect the 2 coolant hoses from right side of the engine.
- Reposition the 2 coolant hoses away from the engine.
- Disconnect the vacuum pipe.
- Reposition the vacuum pipe away from the engine mount.
The following step(s) applies to:
Vehicles with All Wheel Drive (AWD)
- Remove the 3 bolts.
- Remove the halfshaft support bracket.
Discard the seal.
The following step(s) applies to:
All vehicles
- Install the special tool.
Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1633-01
- Install and tighten the 2 bolts.
Torque: 25 Nm
- Install the special tool.
Remove the right engine mount nut.
Remove the left engine mount nut.
- Use the special tool and a suitable hydraulic crane to carefully remove the engine from the vehicle.
Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1633
General Equipment: Hydraulic jib crane
- Use the special tool and a suitable hydraulic crane to carefully remove the engine from the vehicle.
- Remove the 4 bolts.
- Remove the left side engine mount bracket.
- Install the engine stand adapter tool.
Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1673
- Install and tighten the 4 bolts.
Torque: 47 Nm
- Install the engine stand adapter tool.

NOTE: This step requires the aid of another technician.
- Install the engine assembly onto the mounting stand.
- Install and tighten the 4 nuts.
