Oil Pan (G1997943): Removal

The following step(s) applies to:
All vehicles
- Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.
Refer to: LIFTING .
General Equipment: 2 post lift
- Disconnect the startup battery ground cable.
Refer to: STARTUP BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT .
- Drain the engine oil.
Refer to: ENGINE OIL VACUUM DRAINING AND FILLING .
The following step(s) applies to:
Vehicles with All Wheel Drive (AWD)
- Remove the front differential case.
Refer to: DIFFERENTIAL - INGENIUM I4 2.0L DIESEL/INGENIUM I4 2.0L PETROL, AWD .
The following step(s) applies to:
Vehicles with Rear Wheel Drive (RWD)
- Remove the front subframe.
Refer to the appropriate service information.
The following step(s) applies to:
All vehicles
- Remove the crankshaft pulley.
Refer to: CRANKSHAFT PULLEY .
The following step(s) applies to:
Vehicles with All Wheel Drive (AWD)
- Remove the 3 bolts securing the front drive halfshaft support bracket in position.
- Remove the front drive halfshaft support bracket.
The following step(s) applies to:
All vehicles
- Remove the 3 nuts securing the Air Conditioning (A/C) compressor in position.
- Reposition and secure with suitable straps the A/C compressor away from the engine.
Remove the idler pulleys.
- Remove the 12 bolts securing the front engine cover in position.
- Remove the front engine cover.

CAUTION: Inspect the O-ring seal, install a new component if damaged.
- Remove the bolt securing the oil level gauge in position.
- Remove the oil level gauge tube.
- Remove the bolt securing the transmission tubes to the oil pan assembly.
- Reposition the transmission fluid cooler tubes away from the oil pan.
- Remove the 4 clips securing the Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) to the oil pan assembly.
- Remove the NVH pad.
Remove the 4 bolts securing the transmission assembly to the oil pan assembly.

CAUTION: Note the position of the bolts, prior to removal.
Fully remove the 17 oil pan bolts.

CAUTION: Note the position of the bolts, prior to removal.NOTE: Loosen, but do not fully remove the bolts.
Partially remove the remaining 2 oil pan bolts.
Using a suitable prybar, release the oil pan assembly.

CAUTION: Be prepared to collect escaping fluids.
- Fully remove the remaining 2 oil pan bolts.
- Remove the oil pan assembly.
