Lower Timing Cover (G1998105): Installation

CAUTION: Make sure that the mating faces are clean and free of foreign material.NOTE: The lower cover must be installed within 7 minutes of the sealant application.
Apply a 3 mm diameter continuous bead of sealant to the area shown.
Refer to: SPECIFICATIONS .

CAUTION: Take care not to damage the cylinder head gasket when installing the lower timing cover.
- Install the lower timing cover.
- Make sure the locating dowels are installed correctly.
- Install the 2 bolts to allow the dowels to be pushed into the correct position.
Torque: 5 Nm
- Install 2 more bolts as illustrated and tighten the 4 bolts.
Torque: 10 Nm
- Release the 4 lower timing cover bolts by a quarter of a turn.
- Install 2 more bolts as illustrated and tighten the 4 bolts.
- Install the remaining 12 bolts and tighten in the sequence illustrated.
- Install and tighten the 3 upper M6 x 30 bolts.
Torque: 12 Nm
- Install and tighten the 6 M8 x 35 bolts.
Torque: 25 Nm
- Install and tighten the 3 M8x 30 Torx bolts.
Torque: 25 Nm
- Install and tighten the 3 upper M6 x 30 bolts.
- Install the remaining 12 bolts and tighten in the sequence illustrated.
Fully tighten the 4 bolts.
Torque: 25 Nm
- Install the CKP.
Torque: 8 Nm
- Install the coolant pipe bracket.
- Install the rear crankshaft oil seal.

- Connect the startup battery ground cable.
Refer to: STARTUP BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT .
- Lower the vehicle.
