A single Manifold Absolute Pressure and Temperature (MAPT) sensor is located in the intake manifold. The MAPT sensor is secured with a single screw and sealed with an O-ring seal. The MAPT sensor provides a voltage signal to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) relative to the intake manifold pressure and temperature. The MAPT sensor has a 4 pin connector which is connected to the PCM.

The connector provides the following connections:

The MAPT sensor allows the PCM to calculate the charge air density immediately before it enters the combustion chamber. This is used to adjust the ignition timing relative to the charge air pressure and to monitor the performance of the charge air cooler.

The MAPT sensor uses a diaphragm transducer to measure the air pressure and a Negative Temperature Coefficient (NTC) sensor to measure the temperature.
