Catalytic Converter - Vehicles With: NAS Specification (G2225696): Removal

Observe due care when working near a hot exhaust system.
NOTE:
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustration depending on the vehicle specification, but essential information is always correct.
- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
- Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.
Refer to: LIFTING
- Disconnect the battery ground cable.
Refer to: STARTUP BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT
- Remove the engine cover.
Refer to: ENGINE COVER - INGENIUM I4 2.0L PETROL
- Remove the exhaust system.
Refer to: EXHAUST SYSTEM
Remove the right heatshield clip.
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Remove the turbocharger heat shield.
- Remove the 4 bolts.
- Remove the 2 heatshields.
Remove the upper Heated Oxygen Sensor (H2OS).
Special Tool(s): 310-121
- Release the catalytic converter from the turbocharger.
- Using a suitable tool, remove and discard the clamp.
- Remove and discard the gasket.
- Disconnect the post-catalytic converter H2OS electrical connector.
- Disconnect the pre-catalytic converter H2OS electrical connector.
- Release the sensor wiring from the 3 retaining clips.
- Remove the 2 clips.
- Remove the centre heatshield.
- Remove the clip.
- Remove the bolt.
- Remove the right heatshield.
- Loosen, but do not remove the 2 bolts.
- Remove the catalytic converter.

NOTE: Do not disassemble further if the component is removed for access only.
Remove the 2 exhaust sensors from the catalytic converter assembly.
