Brake Pads - Project 8 (G2248944): Installation

Clean the brake caliper carrier using brake cleaning fluid.

WARNING: If the brake caliper piston seal is damaged a new brake caliper must be installed.
Inspect the caliper piston and slide pin seals for damage.

CAUTION: Do not allow dirt or foreign liquids to enter the reservoir.NOTE: Only do this step if new brake pads are to be installed.
- Remove the cowl panel access cover.
- Remove the cap from the brake fluid reservoir.

CAUTION: As the piston is pushed back into the caliper housing, the brake fluid level in the reservoir will rise. Do not allow the reservoir to overflow.NOTE: Only do this step if new brake pads are to be installed.
Using a piston retraction tool, fully retract the brake caliper piston.
Special Tool(s): 206-080

CAUTION:
- Make sure that the brake pads are installed in the correct orientation.
- Make sure that the brake pads chamfer edges are aligned as shown.
- Install the brake pads as shown.
- Install the anti-rattle spring to the inboard brake pad.
- Install the brake caliper.
- Tighten the 2 brake caliper slide pins.
Torque : 28Nm
- Install the 2 dust caps.

NOTE: Only do this step if the component was previously removed.
- Install the brake pad wear sensor.
Renew Part: Brake pad wear sensor cable Quantity: 1.
- Connect and secure the electrical connector.
- Secure the wiring harness to the clips.
- Secure the 4 grommets.
- Install the brake pad wear sensor.
- Install the anti-rattle spring.
- Connect the brake pad wear sensor to the brake pad.
- Secure the grommet.
- Connect the Electric Park Brake (EPB) actuator electrical connector.
Depress the brake pedal several times, check the fluid level in the brake fluid reservoir and top-up to the MAX mark with brake fluid, if necessary.
- Install the cap to the brake fluid reservoir.
- Install the cowl panel access cover.
- Install the wheel and tire assembly.

- Connect the startup battery ground cable.

- Connect the Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) approved diagnostic equipment and configure the EPB.
