Brake Fluid Level Sensor
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2020 Jaguar XE and 2019 Jaguar XE. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
If the brake fluid in the reservoir falls to a predetermined low level, the switch contacts close. Closed contacts provide a ground signal to the Body Control Module/Gateway Module (BCM/GWM). The BCM/GWM then sends a signal to the Instrument Cluster (IC) and to the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) control module. This signal is transmitted on the High Speed (HS) Controller Area Network (CAN) chassis systems bus. On receipt of the signal:
- The IC illuminates the red brake warning indicator and the message center displays the critical warning indicator (red warning triangle) and the message 'BRAKE FLUID LOW'.
- The ABS control module disables Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) functions. At the same time it sends a HS CAN chassis systems bus signal to the IC to continuously illuminate the DSC warning indicator.
