Lower Soft Stop/Hard Stop Description: Notes

Moving glass systems on all vehicle lines have an electrical feature known as "Lower Soft Stop", the intent of this feature is that when the glass is opening, the control system shuts off the power to the motor shortly before the mechanism reaches it's mechanical movement limit which is know as "Hard Stop". This feature is intended to improve end of movement operational noise (no thud) and reduce frequency of stall forces on the mechanism, the downside being that for the control system to maintain a high degree accuracy of understanding of glass position (required to deliver anti-trap legals) it does need to periodically operate the system to hard stop to re-learn the limit position, correcting for any changes/evolution of the system.

The chance the customer really notices the change in glass down position (soft stop position vs. hard stop position) associated with the re-learn cycle is very much dependant on how observant the customer is and how much difference in position there is between hard stop and design intent soft stop position, which can vary between vehicle lines.
