'Soft STOP' And Fully Open Position

The door window systems on this vehicle have a feature known as 'Soft Stop'. This feature is active when the window moves to the fully open position. When the window is opening, the control system shuts off power to the window regulator motor before the window reaches it mechanical movement limit position. This mechanical movement limit position is known as 'Hard Stop'.

The 'Soft Stop' feature is intended to improve end of movement operational noise and reduce frequency of stall forces on the mechanism. In order for the control system to maintain the high degree accuracy of understanding of the window position which is required to deliver anti-trap protection. It does need to periodically allow the window to move to the 'Hard Stop' position to re-learn the mechanical movement limit position. It will corrects for any changes/evolution of the system. The difference between the door window being opened to the 'Soft Stop' position and 'Hard Stop' position, may be visible and noted by the customer. It is design intent and replacement of system components should not be made in attempt to address this behavior.

The door window will open to the 'Hard Stop' position:

When the system is not calibrated correctly (see one touch mode reset above).
For the first 5 complete window cycles after the system is calibrated.
During normal operation 1 in 30 cycles when the system completes the calibration automatically.

The door window will open to the 'Soft Stop' position for all times other than those above.
