Catalytic Converter - Vehicles With: NAS Specification (G2225696): Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2020 Jaguar XE and 2019 Jaguar XE. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. CAUTION:
    • If accidentally dropped or knocked install a new Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S).
    • Make sure the HO2S sensor wiring harness is not twisted more than 180 degrees and is not in contact with the exhaust.
    • Make sure the anti-seize compound does not contact the HO2S sensor tip.
    NOTE:
    • If the original sensor is to be installed, apply lubricant meeting specification ESE-M12A4-A to the thread of the sensor.
    • This step is only required if previously removed.

    Install the 2 exhaust sensors to the catalytic converter assembly.

    Special Tool(s): 310-121 

    Torque  : 48Nm 

    • Install the catalytic converter.
    • Tighten the 2 bolts.

    Torque  : 25Nm 

    • Install the right heatshield.
    • Install and tighten the bolt.

      Torque  : 10Nm 

    • Install the clip.
    • Install the centre heatshield.
    • Install the 2 clips.
    • Install a new gasket.

      Renew Part: Exhaust pipe to turbocharger gasket Quantity  : 1. 

    • Install a new clamp.

      Renew Part: Front exhaust clamp Quantity  : 1. 

    • Secure the catalytic converter to the turbocharger.

    Torque  : 10Nm 

    • Connect the post-catalytic converter Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) electrical connector.
    • Connect the pre-catalytic converter HO2S electrical connector.
    • Install the sensor wiring into the 3 retaining clips.
  2. CAUTION:
    • If accidentally dropped or knocked install a new Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S).
    • Make sure the HO2S sensor wiring harness is not twisted more than 180 degrees and is not in contact with the exhaust.
    • Make sure the anti-seize compound does not contact the HO2S sensor tip.
    NOTE: If the original sensor is to be installed, apply lubricant meeting specification ESE-M12A4-A to the thread of the sensor.

    Install the upper HO2S.

    Special Tool(s): 310-121 

    Torque  : 48Nm 

    • Install the 2 heatshields.
    • Install and tighten the 4 bolts.

    Torque  : 8Nm 

  3. Install the right heatshield clip.
    • Install the turbocharger heatshield.
    • Install and tighten the 2 bolts.

    Torque  : 8Nm 

  4. Install the exhaust system.

  5. Connect the startup battery ground cable.
