Steering Angle Sensor Module - Project 8 (G2248413): Removal

WARNING:
- To prevent accidental deployment, you must de-energize the power in the Restraints Control Module (RCM). Wait at least 2 minutes after you disconnect the startup battery ground cable before you do any work on, of adjacent to, the Supplementary Restraint System (SRS). If you do not follow these instructions, it can cause injury or death.
- Always wear safety glasses when working on an airbag equipped vehicle and when handling an airbag. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury.
- Do not connect any electrical test device or equipment to the Supplementary Restraint System (SRS) connectors.
CAUTION:
- Make sure the wheels are in the straight ahead position. Failure to follow this instruction may result in damage to the component.
- Use a suitable trim tool.
NOTE:
- The Steering Angle Sensor Module (SASM) is an integral component of the clockspring and cannot be serviced separately.
- This procedure contains illustrations showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.
- This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
- Disconnect the startup battery ground cable.

- To avoid accidental deployment, wait at least 2 minutes after you disconnect the startup battery ground cable.
- Remove the steering wheel.

Install the locking pin.
Remove the steering column upper cover.
- Remove the 2 screws.
- Remove the steering column lower cover.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors.
- Remove the 4 screws.
- Remove the clockspring.
