Torque Vectoring By Braking

Torque Vectoring by Braking (TVB) reduces near-limit understeer of the vehicle during cornering. It does this by braking the inside wheels to increase the yaw moment acting on the vehicle. The engine output torque is increased by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) to compensate for the braking effect to maintain vehicle progress. This extends the linear range of the vehicle and increases the maximum cornering capacity.
The system monitors the level of understeer. This can be done by comparing the measured vehicle yaw rate to a calculated yaw rate target. Yaw rate target is determined from the driver steering input and the vehicle speed.
