Brake Pedal Switch

The brake pedal switch is attached to the brake pedal bracket and connected to the vehicle wiring harness using a 4-pin multiplug. When the brake pedal is pressed, the switch contacts close. This sends a hardwired signal to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). A brake pedal switch status message is then sent from the PCM to the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) control module. This sending is completed on the High Speed (HS) Controller Area Network (CAN) chassis systems bus and Flexray. The ABS control module controls the braking force accordingly in conjunction with the Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU).
