Pinpoint Test F: Exhaust Rear Silencer Mass Damper Checks

NOTE:
If the active engine mount system is found to have failed (see checks above), there is a risk that the exhaust rear silencer mass dampers may also have sustained damage. The rear silencer has two mass dampers installed; one forward of the rear silencer secured to a bracket on the inlet pipe the other secured to a bracket attached to the rear silencer assembly. See checks outlined below.
- F1: REAR SILENCER MASS DAMPERS CHECKS
- Complete a visual inspection of the two rear silencer mass dampers and check for any signs of deterioration of the rubber components (cracking or extended fractures)
- Remove the mass damper fixing bolts and check for any signs of damage or wear
- Check the internal bore of the mass dampers for any signs of damage or wear
Do the rear silencer mass damper rubbers or fixing bolts show any signs of cracking or abrasion?
Yes
Replace the rear silencer mass damper(s) and fixing bolts as required. New fixing bolts should be secured to a torque of 22Nm
