Static Apply/Release

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2020 Jaguar XE and 2019 Jaguar XE. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Static apply mode will operate in all power modes. When the Electric Park Brake (EPB) switch is in the apply direction, the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) control module activates the 2 EPB actuators. The activated actuators apply the brakes. The ABS control module also signals the Instrument Cluster (IC) to turn on the EPB warning indicator. The warning indicator stays on 30 seconds continuously after the ignition is OFF.

For the static release mode to operate, the ignition must be ON with either the brake or accelerator pedal pressed. When the EPB switch is operated to the release position, the ABS control module activates the 2 EPB actuators to release the brakes. The ABS control module signals the IC to turn off the EPB warning indicator.
