Actuator Dynamic Brake Function

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2020 Jaguar XE and 2019 Jaguar XE. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The Actuator Dynamic Brake Function (ADBF) mode is used in a special situation. For example, if the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) control module cannot operate the brakes hydraulically, but still has wheel speeds available.

The wheel speed inputs allow the ABS control module to adjust the clamp load on the rear brakes. If necessary the ABS control module produces maximum deceleration without locking the wheels.

When the vehicle speed decreases to 3 km/h (2 mph), the ABS control module fully applies the Electric Park Brake (EPB).

ADBF uses the EPB actuators to apply the rear brakes only, there is no hydraulic brake application and the front brakes are not applied.
