Parking Brake - Project 8 (G2231195): Description: Notes
ELECTRIC PARK BRAKE SWITCH
| ITEM | DESCRIPTION |
|---|---|
| A | Electric Park Brake (EPB) apply |
| B | EPB release |
| 1 | EPB switch |
The Electric Park Brake (EPB) switch is located in the floor console behind the gear selector shaft. The EPB is manually applied and released using the EPB switch. Pulling the switch lever up applies the EPB. Pushing the switch lever down releases the EPB.
The EPB switch contains a pair of micro-switches for both the apply and release actions. The EPB control module provides a hardwired power supply to each of the 4 micro-switches and a single ground connection to the park brake switch. This construction allows to constantly monitor the switch status.
When the EPB switch is operated, the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) control module activates the EPB actuators to apply the brakes. The ABS control module signals the Instrument Cluster (IC) to turn on the EPB warning indicator.
