Anti-Lock Brake System Control Module

The Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) control module controls the 2 Electric Park Brake (EPB) actuators separately. A tilt sensor and accelerometers are integrated into the Restraints Control Module (RCM). These sensors communicate with the ABS control module on the High Speed (HS) Controller Area Network (CAN) chassis systems bus. The tilt sensor allows the ABS control module to determine the longitudinal attitude of the vehicle. The horizontal accelerometer sensor allows the ABS control module to monitor the vehicle's deceleration.

Hardwired connections with the EPB switch provide the ABS control module the EPB apply and EPB release inputs. The wheel speed sensors are also hardwired to the ABS control module. Inputs from components of the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) are received by the ABS control module on the Flexray as follows:

• Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) sensor
• Brake pedal switch.

The Transmission Control Module (TCM) sends the gear position signal to the ABS control module. This data is transferred on the HS CAN powertrain systems bus and HS CAN chassis systems bus as well.

In addition to the hardwired outputs to the EPB actuators, the ABS control module outputs status and fault signals on the HS CAN chassis systems bus. These output signals operate the warning indicators and they advise other systems if there is a fault with the EPB system.
