Spring - Project 8 (G2246517): Removal

NOTE:

- Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.

- Set the rear spring into the track position.
Refer to: WHEEL ALIGNMENT
Remove and discard the stabilizer bar link nut and position the stabilizer bar link away from the lower arm.
- Disconnect the Electric Park Brake (EPB) electrical connector.
- Release the brake pad wear sensor from the brake pad.
- Release the brake pad wear sensor wiring harness from the retaining clip.

CAUTION: Make sure that the brake hose does not support the full weight of the brake caliper assembly.
- Remove the 2 brake caliper anchor plate bolts.
- Position the brake caliper assembly away from the wheel knuckle assembly.
- Tie the brake caliper assembly aside with a suitable tie strap.
General Equipment: Cable ties
Remove and discard the shock absorber lower nut and bolt.
Remove and discard the 3 bolts securing the lower spring mounting.

NOTE: This step requires the aid of another technician.
- Position the lower arm assembly downwards to release the tension on the rear spring.
- Remove the main spring and lower mount assembly whilst holding the upper spring in position.
Remove the upper spring.

NOTE: Do not disassemble further if the component is removed for access only.
Remove the 3 fixings and remove the upper spring mounting.
Remove the spring seat from the upper mount.

NOTE: Note the installed position of components before removal.
Inspect the components and replace if damaged or worn.
