Spring - Project 8 (G2246517): Installation

  1. NOTE: Steps 1 - 3 only necessary if a new component is to be installed.

    loosen but do not fully remove the locking screw.

    Adjust the adjustment ring to the position noted in the removal step.

  3. Tighten the locking screw.

    Torque  : 2.5Nm 

  4. NOTE: Steps 4 and 5 are only required if previously removed.

    Install the spring seat to the upper mount to the position illustrated.

  5. Install the upper spring mount assembly.

    Torque  : 8Nm 

  6. NOTE: This step requires the aid of another technician.
    • Install the upper spring.
    • Install the main spring and lower mount assembly.

    Make sure the spring assembly is correctly installed.

  8. Install the 3 lower spring mount bolts.

    Renew Part: Lower control arm bolt(s) Quantity: 3  .

    Torque  : 25Nm 

  9. Install the shock absorber lower nut and bolt.

    Renew Part: Shock absorber nut and bolt Quantity: 1  .

    Torque 

    Stage 1: 70Nm 

    Stage 2: 120° 

  10. Reposition the stabilizer bar link and install the new nut.

    Renew Part: Stabilizer bar link lower nut Quantity: 1  .

    Torque  : 60Nm 

  11. Reposition the brake caliper assembly.

    Torque  : 110Nm 

  12. Connect the Emergency Park Release (EPR) electrical connector.
    • Connect the pad wear sensor to the brake pad.
    • Reposition the wiring harness in the retaining clip.
  13. Set the spring assembly into the road position.
