High Pressure Fuel Pump 2 - AWD (G2244117): Installation

  1. NOTE: Lubricate the High Pressure (HP) fuel pump bucket with clean engine oil.

    Install the fuel pump bucket.

  2. CAUTION: Tighten the bolts a turn at a time until the correct torque is achieved.
    NOTE: Lubricate the HP fuel pump O-ring seal with clean engine oil.

    • Install the High Pressure (HP) fuel pump.

      Torque  : 11Nm 

    • Install and tighten the 2 bolts.

    Install the Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) material.

  4. NOTE:
    • Lubricate only the union threads with clean engine oil.
    • Install the 2 bolts and 3 fuel line unions only finger before final tightening.

    • Install a new fuel rail delivery line.

      Renew Part: Fuel rail supply pipe(s)  Quantity: 1  .

    • Connect the 3 fuel line unions.
    • Install the 2 bolts.

    • Tighten the 3 fuel line unions and the 2 bolts.

      Torque 

      Unions (1): 21Nm 

      M6 bolt (2): 11Nm 

      M8 bolt (3): 25Nm 

  6. NOTE: Only tighten the 2 fuel line unions finger tight at this stage.

    Connect the 2 fuel line unions to the HP fuel pumps.

    Install and tighten the bolt.

    Torque  : 12Nm

    • Tighten the 2 fuel line unions.

      Torque  : 21Nm

    • Install the heatshield.
    • Install and tighten the 2 bolts.

      Torque 

      M10: 29Nm 

      M6: 11Nm

    Secure the 2 wiring harness clips.

    Secure the wiring harness clip.

    • Connect the 2 electrical connectors to the HP fuel pumps.
    • Secure the clip.

    • Install the engine mount bracket.
    • Install and tighten the 2 bolts.

      Torque  : 60Nm

    Secure the clip.

    Install and tighten the 2 bolts.

    Torque  : 60Nm

    Remove the hydraulic jack.

    Install the idler pulley and tighten the 3 bolts.

    Torque  : 25Nm 

  18. Install the generator.

    Refer to: GENERATOR

  19. Install the front right halfshaft.

    Refer to: FRONT HALFSHAFT

    Install and tighten the nut.

    Torque  : 60Nm 

  21. NOTE: Install the nut and the 2 fuel line unions finger tight before final tightening.

    Install and tighten the 2 fuel line unions and the nut.

    Torque 

    Unions: 21Nm 

    M5 nut: 6Nm 

  22. CAUTION: Inspect the component and replace if damaged or worn.
    NOTE: Install the 4 bolts and 2 fuel line unions finger tight before final tightening.

    • Install the fuel rail crossover line.
    • Install and tighten the 4 bolts and 2 fuel line unions.

      Torque 

      Unions: 21Nm 

      M6: 8Nm

    Secure the wiring harness clip.

    Install the NVH material and secure the vacuum pipe.

    Connect the vacuum pipe.

    Connect the 2 coolant hoses to the right side of the charge air cooler.

    Install the NVH material and oil filler cap.

    Secure the 2 fuel lines to the clips.

    Connect the 2 coolant hoses to the left side of the charge air cooler.

  30. Install the air filter outlet pipe T-connector.

    Refer to: AIR FILTER OUTLET PIPE T-CONNECTOR

  31. Connect the startup battery ground cable.

    Refer to: STARTUP BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT

  32. Fill the engine with oil.

    Refer to: ENGINE OIL VACUUM DRAINING AND FILLING

  33. Check and top up the engine cooling system.
  34. WARNING: The fuel system must be checked visually for leaks. Failure to follow this instructions may result in personal injury.

    Install the engine undershield.

    Refer to: ENGINE UNDERSHIELD - PROJECT 8
