Fuel Injectors (G2244109): Installation

Install the new O-ring seals.

Using a special tool, install new Teflon™ seals on the lower tips of the fuel injectors.

Special Tool(s): 310-198

Using the special tool, re-shape the Teflon™ seals.

Install the new fuel injector spring clamp.
CAUTION:
- Make sure that the area around the open fuel injector ports are clean and free of foreign material and lubricant prior to installing the fuel injector.
- When installing the fuel injectors, make sure that the Teflon™ seal is clean and free of foreign material and lubricant.

Install the 8 new fuel injectors.
CAUTION: If a new cylinder head has been installed then the special tool 310-200-02 without the thread must be used to install the fuel rail.

Install the special tool as shown.

Special Tool(s): 310-200-02
CAUTION:
- If new fuel injectors are installed, a new fuel injector clamp must be installed.
- Make sure that the fuel injector is aligned and installed into the fuel rail correctly, as noted in the removal step.
NOTE: Lubricate the fuel injector O-ring seals with clean engine oil.

- Install the fuel rail.
- Install and alternately tighten the 2 bolts 1 half turn at a time until the required torque is achieved.
  Torque : 20Nm
- Repeat process to the other side.

Remove the special tool.

Special Tool(s): 310-200-02

Install and alternately tighten the 2 bolts 1 half turn at a time until the required torque is achieved.

Torque : 20Nm
NOTE: Tighten the bolts in the indicated sequence.

Fully tighten the 8 fuel rail bolts.

Torque : 30Nm

Connect the electrical connector.

- Install the 8 ignition coils.
- Install and tighten the 8 bolts.
  Torque : 8Nm

- Connect the 8 ignition coil electrical connectors.
- Connect the 8 fuel injector electrical connectors.
CAUTION: Lubricate only the union threads with clean engine oil.
NOTE:
- Engine shown removed for better clarity.
- Install the bolt and unions finger tight before final tightening.
- Remove and discard the blanking caps.

- Install the new fuel line assembly, tighten the fuel line unions finger tight.
- Install and tighten the 2 bolts.
- Install and tighten the nut.

- Tighten the fuel line assembly unions (1).
  Torque : 21Nm
- Tighten the fuel line assembly M6 bolt (2).
  Torque : 11Nm
- Tighten the fuel line assembly M8 bolt (3).
  Torque : 25Nm
- Tighten the fuel line assembly M5 nut (4).
  Torque : 6Nm

Install the idler pulley.

Torque : 21Nm
Install the generator.

Attach the accessory drive belt.

- Install the heatshield.
- Install and tighten the 2 bolts.
  Torque
  
  Heatshield M10 bolt: 29Nm
  
  Heatshield M6 bolt: 11Nm

- Connect the 2 electrical connectors.
- Attach the retaining clips.
Install the engine undershield.

Attach the retaining clip.
CAUTION: Lubricate only the union threads with clean engine oil.

NOTE: Remove and discard the blanking caps.

- Install the new fuel line.
- Tighten the 2 fuel line unions.
  Torque : 21Nm
- Tighten the 4 bolts.
  Torque : 8Nm
Install the air filter outlet pipe T-connector.

Connect the breather pipe.

Install the Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) material.

- Remove the engine oil filler cap.
- Install the NVH material.
- Install the oil filler cap.
- Connect the pipe connectors.

Connect the pipe.

- Connect the coolant hoses.
- Install the clip.
- Repeat step for other side.
Connect the startup battery ground cable.
