The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) controls the output from the High Pressure (HP) fuel pumps to deliver the required volume of fuel at pressures up to 150 bar (2175 lbf/in2 ).

The PCM uses the signal from the Fuel Rail Pressure and Temperature (FRPT) sensor to calculate the time the fuel injectors need to be energized. This makes sure that the fuel injectors deliver the correct mass of fuel to the combustion chambers.
